What Makes a Good Article?

We are all aware the utter power and efficacy of online marketing through article publication.  All of us can even say that article marketing is the most powerful and least risky internet marketing tactic that has been conceptualized since the dawn of the digital world.

Simply put, if you're running an online business, you have to resort to article marketing.

Despite this maxim, one of the most common questions I receive is this: how does one prepare a good article?

This reveals that though most online entrepreneurs know that they have to use article marketing, not all of them are possessed of the knowledge on how to come up with a web-worthy piece of informative content.

Hence, I have written down some simple steps on how you can craft the most suitable good article for internet advertising purposes.

  1. Know the topic you want to discuss with your article.

  2. Don't attempt to write about a broad topic.  Narrow it down to a more specific subject that people will be fascinated with.  By way of example, don't tackle the general topic of "dogs."  Find a sub-topic that will tickle the fancies of the people you will be aiming for.  As is often the case, this sub-topic refers to a particular need, like "dog training" for dog owners who are experiencing difficulty when it comes to living with their disobedient pets, or "dog grooming" for allergic owners who can't survive the smell of their dirty canine friends.  You need to unearth a sub-topic that will make people take notice.  This is critical.  Most articles fail because they don't discuss a more particular matter.

  3. Since the sub-topic should reflect a need, your article should share an answer.  But, depending on the purpose of the article, the answer you will share will vary.  By way of example, if you're going to use the article to market a product, then hold back on the answer you will share.  Your aim, in such a situation, is to provide the impression that you are an expert in the field, and entice your readers to consider what you have to offer.  Keep this in mind as you prepare your article.

  4. Create a catchy grabbing title that is dumbed down but nonetheless enticing.  Internet users will visit your article if they will like its title.  If not, no one will view what you have prepared.

  5. Do not forget that every article has three basic parts: the introduction, the body, and the ending.  The opening will introduce what your piece is all about.  You can deliver a shocking fact, an alarming statistic, or a funny anecdote to jerk your audience into realizing that indeed, you are the a true expert in the field.  The body will explore the message you want to convey, naturally.  And the conclusion will summarize the problem, the given solution, as well as interject some calls to action (i.e. click my link) if applicable.

  6. How long should your article be? It's safe to say that 300 to 750 words would be fantastic!

These are just some basic tips for article writing.  It is not hard to write a good article all it takes is a little preparation and some thought.  With practice you will find it gets a lot quicker.  For more advice on writing a good article and other ways you can increase your website traffic go to Marketeermum.
